Project Description

The Gold Coast Regional Botanic Gardens (the Gardens) is an accredited botanic garden focused on conservation, display and education, located centrally within the Gold Coast.

The Strategic Direction Report prepared by Better Cities Group included an analysis of the existing context of the Gardens and outlined a number of major projects planned by City of Gold Coast. These include a Biodiversity Centre, rehabilitation of the main lakes, a children’s playground, a recycled water main and the restoration of a heritage listed dwelling.

Better Cities Group’s report outlined the delivery of these projects on a short term (0-5 year) implementation plan and a long term (5-15 year) implementation plan. Development Directive provided a background on the local and state government planning controls relevant to the site and the recommended approval pathway for each project. This included the identification of possible proposed land uses, key planning constraints and development applications required.
